The BBC came to film at Brenda's
Just as the 'back to school' period was peaking the BBC decided to make our life a bit busier by coming to film live in our shop!
The first day they turned up in the afternoon, while we were in full swing with a packed shop, and starting interviewing customers. The editied customers interviews went out on Breakfast TV the next day along with live filmed interviews with Jan Smeeth, One of the Business' Proprietors.
On the 1st September they turned up in the very early morning to set up and we went live at about 7.20 am and 8.20 am, and we had a viewership of three million ! (according to our sources at the BBC!)
The reason for their visit was to find out why people were spending more money on uniform than ever before. The verdict was that the extra expense was because Schools required more equipment especially for sport, but the cost of uniforms with logos has dramatically reduced over the last two years.
So live on air Jan contradicted the thoughts of the interviewr informing us all that prices are much lower than ever before and that this year alone we've put down the cost of a huge number of bespoke items.
So, point well across, schoolwear is getting cheaper and we will continue to do our best to bring the prices down.
